Upon arriving in Cayos Cochinos, you will be greeted by our friendly staff on Cayo Menor.

Scientific Station
The Cayos Cochinos Scientific Station is located in Cayo Menor.
These are some services & facilities you should expect
prior to your visit as a volunteer or researcher:
Docks
We have 3 docks:
The private Marina in La Ceiba, another dock at the Scientific Station in Cayo Menor, and a dock at the Management Station in East End, Cayo Mayor.
First Aid
Adequate facility for these purposes, with medicines aimed at treating basic , typical problems typical of an island (Allergies to mosquito bites).and conditions typical of a diving operation (allergies to jellyfish), in addition there is oxygen and 5 oxygen kits which are required to be carried on each dive.
Wifi
The satellite service is currently available through Wi-Fi and cable connections. A microwave system will soon be installed to increase the connection speed .
Cabins
Our accommodation includes 3 simple cabins raised on poles, accommodating up to 16 people. The cabins feature single-person beds, ceiling fans, and a standing fan. With two shared bathrooms, a living room, breakfast room, and dishwasher, we provide convenience and comfort. We also offer ozonators for water purification and a sink for laundry. Additionally, we have a spacious presidential cabin with 11-person capacity, 5 king size beds, and 1 single bed. Each room in the cabin has air conditioning, ceiling fans, a private bathroom, and ozonators for water purification. Enjoy the beautiful sea view from the large deck made of cured wood.

Rainwater Collection
The water used in the Scientific station is captured from the roofs of each building throughout the year, which is piped to reservoirs and then pumped to elevated tanks on the mountain with a capacity of 28,000 gallons, This water is chemically treated for human consumption using individual ozonators in each building .
Dry Lab
In the laboratory, different studies of dry organisms are carried out, researchers manipulate living organisms such as jamos, rosy boas and other terrestrial organisms for genetic marking, placement of marks or PITS, morphometry of individuals , etc.
It is also used as a room for exhibitions, talks or presentations.- It has equipment such as microscopes, as well as chemicals for the preservation of organisms .
Inside the laboratory there are cubicles for researchers, a computer room, and library attached to the field administration offices and HCRF staff offices.- There is an internal bathroom with a bathtub for users.
Library
The Scientific Station works with photovoltaic energy, however in those days that there is not enough sun exposure there are 2 Diesel - based electric generators .
Water Treatment
The facilities have a water treatment system based on septic tanks (Biodigesters) allowing wastewater to be treated correctly.

Info Center
The information center is the place where tourists have access to receive information on the Protected Area, there are 3 giant screen televisions in which tourists receive a video of the Protected Area, inside the information center there are bathrooms for tourists.
In addition , this recently built center is used as a conference room.
Restaurant
Located on the mountain with an impressive view of the sea, which is reached through wooden steps placed in the middle of oak trees, it has a comfortable capacity for 50 people, with a full kitchen with high standards of quality, prepared by a team of chefs and their assistants.
